September 15 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Have you ever heard about Cathay Williams who may just be the best-known African-American woman in the post-Civil War American West? Williams served in Co. A., 38th U.S. Infantry Regiment and is the only known Buffalo Soldier that was a woman. She was also the first African-American woman to enlist (while disguised as a man) and the only documented woman to serve in the U.S. Army during the Indian Wars.
Researcher Leo Oliva will take us inside the story including telling us about a recent discovery of additional documents that sheds new light on this popular story.
