Friends of the Library

Friends of the Library are groups of citizens who join together to support and promote public libraries.  They understand the importance of library service to the community and work in a variety of ways to help the library become more effective.  Friends of the Tonganoxie Library have been in existence since the late 1880's.  At that time a group of community ladies started with a small collection of books for lending.  This grew into a larger library that was once housed in our current city hall building.  As the library grew a librarian was hired and a Friends group continued.

The Friends meet the fourth Monday of the month at 6:30 PM.
The public is welcome to attend.

Get Involved

Friends of the Library sponsor several events throughout the year.  These range from the Christmas Auction to the Annual Spring Book Sale.  Our largest fundraising opportunity comes in June with our annual 5K-10K Run in conjunction with Tonganoxie Days.
